BACKGROUND: Wikia Article Page
PERSONALITY:
- "Her Ideal Detective" - Typically calm and collected, Naoto is what many would consider a novel detective upon meeting. She's brilliant and gives off a mysterious air, often choosing to focus on work rather than anything else. She doesn't like wasting her time and rarely does she mince words, leading to trouble maintaining social relationships and butting heads.
- "I Want a Reason to Stay" - In reality, Naoto isn't fond of people. Since the death of her parents and being taken in by her grandfather, she honed her skills to become a detective. Unfortunately, her interests never aligned with anyone her age and adults were not pleased to have a child solving their cases. Because of this, she rejected many of her childhood interests and attempted to act older, but while age would become less of an issue in time, she began to suffer discrimination because of her gender. Though many rejections and instances of being abandoned, Naoto has become hesitant to immediately get along with anyone unless it would be beneficial to her work in the moment.
- "Loyalty" - Saving Naoto from herself reveals her insecure nature as well as a desire for some companionship. She abhors being alone unless it's of her own volition, but her stubbornness to maintain appearances kept her from vocalizing it. Her need to prove her worthiness led down a path of self-destruction that warped her previous passions to be a detective into a monotonous chore following others and altering herself. However, through her Senpai and grandfather's efforts does she reclaim her position, remembering that she's doing what she loves for herself no matter what others say.
- "Closet Nerd" - Though Naoto maintains a cool composure normally, she's actually easy to embarrass. Naoto tries not to draw attention to herself, and when too much attention is on her, she makes an effort to leave the limelight. She has many 'male' interests from insects to machinery and even tokusatsu like "Featherman", and is skilled at the piano. Despite occupation, she's not athletic and anything that can't be scientifically explained (ghosts, mummies, etc.) scare her. Older now, she's much better at being less embarrassed about sharing her interests.
POWERS/ABILITIES:
- "The Detective Prince": Naoto's deductive reasoning is on par and surpasses many detectives in her world as she's trained herself with awareness to advancing technology in her field. By the age of 16, she's already managed to solve twenty-four cases that had flummoxed other detectives. Aside from incredible mental intuitions, it also gives her experience handling more difficult situations and sights such as those involving killers and crime scenes.
- "Popular Mechanics": Since a young age, Naoto's shown a knack for mechanics, taking apart and putting things back together much to the quiet frustration of her grandfather. Over years of tinkering, she's learned to incorporate her self-taught mechanical skills into making her self-titled 'Detective Tools'. For a few years, she lost interest, but it has since returned.
- "Locked and loaded": Naoto is trained and specially licensed (likely thanks to connections) to wield firearms. While she tends to stick to her revolver, she can use a more standard pistol and has wielded an SMG with a single hand.
- "Protect": Because of her stature, Naoto does have some formal combat training in order to protect herself against individuals larger than her. Hand-to-hand, it's mainly for self-defense, giving her time to distance herself through knock outs and/or stuns.
- "Shut Up and Drive": During P4G, Naoto has successfully obtained a license for a moped and will even ride her scooter to assist in battle sometimes. Upon reaching the appropriate age, she has licenses for a motorcycle and car. Because she travels light and usually alone, Naoto tends to stick with riding motorcycles.
- "Summon - Persona": After facing her other self/Shadow, Naoto was granted the ability to summon a Persona, the physical manifestation of her ego/self. Though late to the game comparatively to her friends, Naoto manages to show further that she shouldn't be underestimated by wielding high-level attacks of all trade (physical and magical) along with skills only the main character has been shown capable of using (instant-kill light and dark magic, almighty skills). Her Persona's power reflects her ability to work independently, but her lower HP requires her to have aid in battle. Her initial Persona, Sukuna-Hikona, eventually becomes Yamato-Takeru and further evolves into Yamato-Sumeragi based on her resolve though will often be shown shifted back to Sukuna-Hikona. As well, these changes make her immune to and reflect fire, light, and dark magics.
